Call for animation shorts
Deadline August 30, 2010
Selected animations will be shown on Zoom TV monitors in Bucharest subway stations from October 15 to November 15, 2010.
This event is part of the “Mr. Urban” project, developed and organized by "Asociatia din Pod" & "MORA Foundation" as part of the "I love Bucharest" public art program, in partnership with Zoom TV.
If you think that brain is better than brawn, if you won't stand for verbal or visual aggression, if you don't want to navigate through cities full of garbage, if you can barely squeeze between the cars parked on the sidewalk, if the woman from the bakery keeps pocketing your change, if you don't want to be snubbed only for wearing the 'wrong' kind of clothes, and if you're still able to say "hello" to your neighbors, “I love Bucharest” gives you a chance to express yourself and get involved.
"Mr. Urban" is predicated on the assumption that there is a real need and desire for a change in our fellow-citizen's behavior, especially when this behavior affects other people. The project stems from the classic opposition between "Dos" and "Don'ts" At stake here is the very act of involvement, understood as an individual action with general consequences.
"Mr. Urban" is a call for a return to common sense, for a change of attitude, but it is also a reflection of a common urban reality. Whether we live in a fancy condo or in a block of flats, "Mr. Urban" stands for the citizen in each of us, no matter how we go about our daily routine (school/work/shopping) - by taking the bus, the tram, or the underground, by riding the bike or driving our car.
